Park
As with all Amtgard chapters who use public parks, we must abide by the laws and regulations of the State, City, and Park. We maintain our chapter at Hensel park on the campus of Texas A&M University, and we strive to keep good relations with them. Please try to keep "legally marginal" activities to a minimum. We maintain our area of the park in good order during the course of our time there, and attempt to leave it clean for others. If you come to our park, please respect us and the University by not defacing or littering in the park.
Park Details
Mordengaard runs a fairly relaxed park with regard to magic class usage, garb, and personas. While we respect and understand that these elements are a critical aspect of Amtgard, and of the fantasy LARP genre, we also understand that we also need some good hard fighting.
- All weapons MUST be safe. Check all weapons with reeves or the Champion.
- "New" style fiber-glass (golf-club shaft) and FunnoodleTM weapons are allowed and encouraged. Pay particular attention to the shaft: aging shafts are a hazard, also some graphite and fiber glass shafts also contain a metal core, NO METAL is allowed in weapons. Weapons are required to have a cover. Full-forced blows are expected to be felt, but no excessive pain/bruising/cutting will be tolerated. If you are unsure of weapon construction, bring materials to a meeting, and we'll be glad to help you.
- Unless otherwise stated, assume combat is "ditch"-style: no armor or ranged weapons.
- Atomic Clock vs. In Motion: Mordengaard follows the Amtgard Rules of Play v7 which specify Shot in Motion.
- Please do not offend other players due to ethnicity, religion, sex, age, sexual-orientation, etc. A certain amount of bantering is expected, but please try to respect others while playing. Becoming overly aggressive and offensive is a good way to lose fighting privileges.
- Garb and personas are strongly encouraged. Mordengaard requires a tunic or period breeches (if no shirt or tunic worn) in order to play a class. All other class garb requirements must also be met.
- The main ditching areas are grassy, but may include extremely hard pack dirt/sand or gravel. Keeping this in mind, we recommend that you procure adequate knee padding prior to playing.
- The park, especially on Sundays, is frequented by many other "civilians" who play in the nearby fields, as well as bikers and hikers who take the paths behind the gazebo area. Please respect other patrons of the park: our purpose is to expand our park, not alienate ourselves.
